PTO FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

Clovis Grove Elementary
Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) FAQ

What is the Clovis Grove PTO?
The PTO is an organization that fosters relationships among parents, teachers, and administrators at school to help support the educational excellence of Clovis Grove.

Who can join the PTO?
Every parent/guardian of a Clovis child is automatically a member of the PTO, and is welcome to any meetings or events sponsored by the PTO.  In addition, the PTO is continually seeking parent volunteers for the numerous activities in which it supports.

What does the PTO do?
The PTO has three primary objectives:
              1. Coordinate and support fun and educational activities for students.
       2. Foster communication and cooperation between parents and teachers.
       3. Help support the academic goals of the school.

In what activities is the PTO involved?
The PTO offers a variety of programs and activities for families to become involved in their children’s school experiences including: Carnival, TV Turn-Off Week, The Scholastic Book Fair, Teacher/Staff Appreciation, and the yearbook.
In addition, PTO members are often involved in other areas in school. These include involvement with the PBIS leadership team, assisting with the Cougar Paws at Home program, and supporting classroom volunteers.

When does the PTO meet?
The PTO has regular meetings through the year, they are generally on the third Thursday of the month from 6:30 – 8:00 at the Clovis Library.
In addition, for the 2011-2012 school year, the PTO is going to sponsor a special event or discussion forum outside of the standard meeting.  The first of these is an open discussion and meet & greet with Mrs. Richter on September 27th.

Is the PTO involved in fundraising?
Yes.  The PTO runs a fundraiser once a year.   This money is used to support enrichment activities for students.  This includes financial contributions for field trips, school-wide programs, and supplemental educational materials.

Also, the PTO is involved with organizing the collection of Box Tops for Education, Campbell's Soup UPC Labels for Education, Kwik Trip Milk Moola tops, other (Kemps/Dean Foods) milk caps for education, and Tyson labels for the purchase of playground equipment.
